Fintech Group — Shaping future financial solutions

From Zero to 100: How Type B Built FintechGroup’s India Workforce Under ExtremePressure

Fintech Group is a Dutch powerhouse serving some of the largest banks across Europe, Canada, the U.S., and the Middle East. Their mission: deliver high-performance financial solutions for global institutions.

But as demand increased, Fintech Group needed to scale fast — particularly in India, one ofthe world’s most talent-rich yet legally complex engineering hubs.

Building a new office in India isn’t a simple recruitment exercise. It involves:

• Navigating complex local regulations

• Understanding tax and compliance structures

• Setting up HR and finance systems

• Building trust with talent — especially in a market where employer misconduct is not uncommon

• Managing culture and expectations across multiple continents

Fintech Group needed a partner who could build a full workforce from scratch, and fast.

So they turned to Type B.

Challenge

Things were already complex when we came in

1. Fintech Group Needed to Hire 100 People Immediately

Their European and North American banking clients needed more support — but the teamwasn’t big enough to deliver.

2. India Is a Complicated Market to Enter

• Setting up operations requires:

• Local compliance

• Complex legal paperwork

• Tax registration

• Vendor and office sourcing

Hiring at scaleFintech Group had no presence on the ground — yet needed a full workforce.

3. A Crisis of Trust from a Previous Employer

Many employees who would join Fintech Group were still dealing with:

• A fraudulent former employer

• Legal threats

• Fear of joining another company

This meant morale was low, tension was high, and hiring required sensitivity, trust-building, andhuman understanding — not just transactions.

Approach

End-to-end workforce creation

1. Finding and Securing the Mumbai Office

We sourced the office space, vetted options, and helped Fintech Group establish their physical presence in India, the headquarters they operate from today.

2. Building the HR & Finance Leadership (From Type B’sOwn Team)

Two of Fintech Group’s most critical leaders came directly from Type B:

• Head of HRA Type B leader who personally hired 100 people for Fintech Group India.

• Head of FinanceAlso from Type B team, responsible for building all financial operations. These leaders became the backbone of Fintech Group’s entire India operation.

3. Hiring 85 People in 2.5 Months — Despite Resistance

Due to the previous employer’s legal threats and misconduct, many candidates were scared. To overcome this, Type B:

• Held counseling sessions

• Provided transparency and reassurance

• Built trust one conversation at a time

• Extended HR support beyond normal hours

• Educated candidates on their rights and safety

• Maintained strict confidentiality

This turned fear into confidence — and confidence into commitment.

4. Bridging Two Companies, Two Cultures, and HighPressure

Merging new employees into a new company — while dealing with a traumatic experience fromtheir former employer — required empathy and strong communication. Our HR and Finance leads worked day and night to:

• Build internal structure

• Set up contracts and payroll

• Ensure legal protection

• Create stability

• Hit hiring targets

• Make sure the company didn’t stall

In the words of the team:“The efforts of everyone involved ensured the company survived.”

Impact

Zero to fully operational

“Everyone on their team is incredibly talented, dedicated, and a pleasure to work with, making the process of building and scaling feel effortless and collaborative. If we had to start again from scratch, Type B would be our first call.”
